• Airway (ICAO) : 무선 항법 보조 시설(radio navigation aid)을 갖추고 있는 회랑(corridor) 형태의 관제구역 또는 부분. (즉, 항행 안전 보조 시설로 구성되는 회랑 형태의 관제 구역 또는 이의 한 부분으로서 비행안전을 위해 설정.)
• Airway (USA) : Class "E" 공역은 회랑(corridor) 형태로 설정되며, 무선 항법 보조 시설(radio navigation aid)에 의해 중심선(centerline)이 정의됨.
• Alerfa : 경고(보) 단계를 나타내기 위해 사용되는 코드 단어.
• Alert Area (USA) : 경계 구역, 비행 훈련 지역과 같이 많은 항공기가 비정상 공중 조작이 수행되는 지역에 설정됨. 따라서 이 지역을 통과하는 조종사는 각자 최대의 주의를 기울여야 함.
• Alerting Service : 수색과 구조 지원이 필요한 항공기에 관해서 적절한 관계 부서에 통보하고 필요에 따라 이 같은 조직을 돕기 위해 제공되는 업무. 
• Alert Phase : 항공기와 탑승객의 안전에 대해 우려가 되는 상황.
• Allocation, Allocate : 국가, 기관 또는 관련 부서에 주파수, SSR(2차 감시 레이더) code 등의 배분, 국가 또는 일반 등록 당국에 24비트 항공기 수신처의 배분.
• Along Track Distance : Slant range(경사 거리) 오류가 발생하지 않는 RNAV reference 기능을 사용하는 시스템에 의해 특정 공간에서 측정된 거리.
• Alphanumeric Characters (Alphanumerics) : 문자와 숫자의 총칭(공통 용어).
• Alternate Aerodrome (USA) : 착륙하고자 했던 공항에 착륙하는 것이 바람직하지 않을 경우 항공기가 착륙할 수 있는 공항.
• Alternate Aerodrome (ICAO) : 착륙하고자 하는 비행장으로 비행하고나 착륙하는 것이 불가능할 경우 진행할 수 있는 비행장. 대체 공항은 다음을 포함함.

1. Take-Off Alternate : 이륙 후 단기간의 필요에 따라 착륙할 수 있으나 출발 비행장으로 사용할 수 없는 교체 비행장. 
2. En Route Alternate : 항로상에서 비정상 상황이나 비상 상황이 생긴 후 착륙할 수 있는 교체 비행장. 
3. Destination Alternate : 착륙하고자 했던 공항에 착륙하는 것이 불가능하거나 바람지하지 않는 경우 비행하고자 하는 교체 비행장. / 참고 - 출발 항공편의 공항은 그 비행에서 en route alternate 또는 destination alternate가 될 수도 있음.
4. *ETOPS En Route Alternate : En route *ETOPS 운항 중 엔진 정지 또는 기타 비정상적이거나 비상 상황이 일어난 후 착륙할 수 있는 적절하고 적합한 교체 비행장.

• Alternate Aerodrome (ICAO) : An aerodrome to which an aircraft may proceed when it becomes either impossible or inadvisable to proceed to or to land at the aerodrome of intended landing. Alternate aerodrome include the following:

1. Take-Off Alternate : An alternate aerodrome at which an aircraft can land should this become necessary shortly after take-off and it is not possible to use the aerodrome of departure.
2. En Route Alternate : An aerodrome at which an aircraft would be able to land after experiencing an abnormal or emergency condition while en route.
3. Destination Alternate : An alternate aerodrome to which an aircraft may proceed should it become impossible or inadvisable to land at the aerodrome of intended landing. / Note - The aerodrome from which a flight departs may also be an en route or a destination alternate aerodrome for that flight.
4. *ETOPS En Route Alternate : A suitable and appropriate alternate aerodrome at which an aeroplane would be able to land after experiencing an engine shutdown or other abnormal or emergency condition while en route in an *ETOPS operation.

※ ETOPS(Extended-range Twin-engine Operational Performance Standards) : 2개의 엔진이 달린 항공기가 운항 도중 하나의 엔진이 고장 나서 나머지 엔진 하나를 가지고 운항할 수 있는 시간을 각 항공기별로 비상 착륙 대체 공항으로부터 1시간, 3시간 또는 특정 시간 이상 거리가 떨어져 있어도 운항을 할 수 있는 제도. 이를테면 인천공항에서 출발하는 A330 항공기가 호주로 향하는 도중 기체에 이상이 생겼을 때 베트남, 태국, 말레이시아, 필리핀 등에 비상 착륙하는 식으로 볼 수 있음.
