- Runway Holding Position : (비행장 관제탑에서의 별도의 인가를 받지 않는 한) 활주로, 장애물 제한 표면(obstacle limitation surface) 또는 taxiing 중인 항공기 및 차량이 정지 및 hold 되어야 하는 ILS/MLS critical/sensitive area를 보호하기 위해 설계된 위치. [Note - 무선통신에서 "holding point"라는 표현은 runway holding position을 지정하는 데 사용됨.]
- Runway Incursion : 항공기의 이륙 및 착륙을 위해 지정된 표면(surface)의 보호 구역에 항공기, 차량, 또는 사람이 진입한 것과 관련된 비행장에서의 어떤 발생.
- Runway Marking :
a. Basic marking - centerline markings과 runway direction numbers 및 필요한 경우 문자로 구성된 시계 비행 규칙에 의한 운항에 사용되기 위한 활주로 표시.
b. Instrument marking - 비시각적 항법 보조 장치에 의해 제공되며, basic marking과 threshold markings으로 구성된 계기 기상 조건에서 착륙을 위한 활주로 표시.
c. All-weather (precision instrument) marking - 비시각적 정밀 접근 보조 장치가 제공하는 활주로 및 특수 운영 요건이 있는 활주로에서의 표시는 instrument marking과 landing zone markings 및 side strip으로 구성됨.
- Runway Strip : 제공되는 경우 runway 및 stopway를 포함하는 defined area: (a) 활주로를 이탈하는 항공기의 손상과 위험을 감소시키기 위한 영역 및 (b) 이륙 또는 착륙을 위해 비행하는 항공기를 보호하기 위한 영역.
- Runway Visual Range (RVR) : 활주로 중심선 상에 있는 항공기의 조종사가 활주로의 표면 표시나 활주로를 나타내는 등화 또는 중심선을 식별할 수 있는 범위.
- Safety-Sensitive Personnel : 승무원, 항공기 정비 요원 및 항공 교통 관제사를 포함하되 이에 한정되지 아니하는 직무와 기능을 부적절하게 수행할 경우 항공 안전을 해할 우려가 있는 사람.
- Search And Rescue Services Unit : 일반적인 용어는, 경우에 따라, 구조 조정 센터(rescue coordination center), 구조 하부 센터(rescue subcenter) 또는 경보소(alerting post)를 나타냄.
- Secondary Area : 감소하는 obstacle clearance가 제공되는 명의상의 비행항적(nominal flight track)을 따라 위치한 primary area의 각 측면에 정의된 영역.
- Runway Holding Position : A designed position intended to protect a runway, an obstacle limitation surface, or an ILS/MLS critical/sensitive area at which taxiing aircraft and vehicles shall stop and hold, unless otherwise authorized by the aerodrome control tower. [Note - In radiotelephony phraseologies, the expression "holding point" is used to designate the runway holding position.]
- Runway Incursion : Any occurrence at an aerodrome involving the incorrect presence of an aircraft, vehicle or person on the protected area of a surface designated for the landing and take-off of aircraft.
- Runway Markings :
a. Basic marking - Markings on runways used for operations under visual flight rules consisting of centerline markings and runway direction numbers and, if required, letters.
b. Instrument marking - Markings on runways served by nonvisual navigation aids and intended for landings under instrument weather conditions, consisting of basic marking plus threshold markings.
c. All-weather (precision instrument) marking - Marking on runways served by nonvisual precision approach aids and on runway having special operational requirements, consisting of instrument markings plus landing zone markings and side strips.
- Runway Strip : A defined area including the runway and stopway, if provided, intended: (a) to reduce the risk of damage to aircraft running off a runway; and (b) to protect aircraft flying over it during take-off or landing operations.
- Runway Visual Range (RVR) : The range over which the pilot of an aircraft on the centre line of a runway can see the runway surface markings or the lights delineating the runway or identifying its centre line.
- Safety-Sensitive Personnel : Persons who might endanger aviation safety if they perform their duties and functions improperly including, but not limited to, crew members, aircraft maintenance personnel and air traffic controllers.
- Search And Rescue Services Unit : A generic term meaning, as the case may be, rescue coordination center, rescue subcenter or alerting post.
- Secondary Area : A defined area on each side of the primary area located along the nominal flight track in which decreasing obstacle clearance is provided. (See also Primary Area)
