•  Uncertainty Phase : 항공기와 탑승자의 안전이 불확실한 상황.
• Unmanned Free Balloon : 무동력, 무인이며 공기보다 가볍고 자유롭게 비행할 수 있는 기구. [Note - Unmanned Free Balloon은 ICAO Annex 2, Appendix 4에 수록된 기준에 따라 heavy, medium 또는 light 등으로 분류됨.]\
• Upper-Air Chart : 특정된 상층면 또는 대기층에 관한 기상도.
• Urgency : 즉각적인 구조를 요구하지는 않지만, 항공기나 다른 비행체, 또는 탑승해 있거나 가시거리(시야)에 있는 인원의 안전에 관련되는 상황.
• Vectoring : ATS surveillance system의 사용을 기반으로 특정 heading의 형태로 항공기에 항법 유도를 제공함.
• Vertical Navigation (VNAV) : 수직면에서 유도를 제공하는 RNAV 장비의 기능.
• Vertical Path Angle (VPA) (ICAO) : Baro-VNAV 절차에서 publish 된 final approach descent의 angle.
• Vertical Path Angle (VPA) (USA) : FAF에서 또는 때때로 intervening stepdown fix에서 TCH까지의 기하학적 descent path를 묘사하는 비정밀 접근에 표시된 descent angle. 이 angle은 (VASI, PAPI, PLASI 등) Visual Glide Slope Indicator에 의해 투영된 각도와 일치하거나 일치하지 않을 수 있음.
• Very High Frequency (VHF) : 30 MHz와 300 MHz 사이의 주파수(200 MHz-3 GHz는 항공에서 UHF로 간주됨).
• VFR Flight : 시계 비행 규칙에 따라 수행되는 비행.
• Vibal : (Visibilité Balise) Vibal은 관측자(또는 이륙 위치에서의 조종사)가 활주로에 인접한 특정 markers를 count 하거나 runway edge lights를 count 하여 RVR을 결정하는 방법.
• Visibility (ICAO) : 대기 상태에 따라 결정되고 거리 단위로 표시되는 수치로 주간에는 뚜렷한 비발광 대상물과 야간에는 뚜렷한 발광대상물을 보고 식별할 수 있는 범위의 한계.
  a. Flight Visibility - 비행 중인 항공기의 조종석에서 전방으로 보이는 시정.
  b. Ground Visibility - 공인된 관측자가 보고한 비행장에서의 시정.
  c. Runway Visual Range (RVR) - 활주로 중심선 상에 있는 항공기의 조종사가 runway surface markings 또는 runway를 묘사하거나 중심선을 식별하는 등화를 볼 수 있는 범위.

• Uncertainty Phase : A situation wherein uncertainty exists as to the safety of an aircraft and its occupants.
• Unmanned Free Balloon : A non-power-driven, unmanned, lighter-than-air aircraft in free flight. [Note - Unmanned free balloons are classified as heavy, medium or light in accordance with specifications contained in ICAO Rules of the AIr, Annex 2, Appendix 4.]
• Upper-Air Chart : A meteorological chart relating to a specified upper-air surface or layer of the atmosphere.
• Urgency : A condition concerning the safety of an aircraft or other vehicle, or of some person on board or within sight, but which does not require immediate assistance.
• Vectoring : Provision of navigational guidance to aircraft in the form of specific headings, based on the use of an ATS surveillance system. 
• Vertical Navigation (VNAV) : That function of RNAV equipment which provides guidance in the vertical plane.
• Vertical Path Angle (VPA) (ICAO) :  Angle of the published final approach descent in Baro-VNAV procedures.
• Vertical Path Angle (VPA) (USA) : The descent angle shown on some non-precision approaches describing the geometric descent path from the Final Approach Fix (FAF), or on occasion from an intervening stepdown fix, to the Threshold Crossing Height (TCH). This angle may or may not coincide with the angle projected by a Visual Glide Slope Indicator (VASI, PAPI, PLASI, etc.)
• Very High Frequency (VHF) : The frequencies between 30 MHz and 300 MHz (200 MHz-3 GHz is considered as UHF in the Aviation).
• VFR Flight : A flight conducted in accordance with the visual flight rules.
• Vibal : (Visibilité Balise) Is the method whereby a human observer (or pilot in take-off position) determines the RVR by counting specific markers adjacent to the runway or by counting runway edge lights.
• Visibility (ICAO) : The ability, as determined by atmospheric conditions and expressed in units of distance, to see and identify prominent unlighted objects by day and prominent lighted objects by night.
  a. Flight Visibility - The visibility forward from the cockpit of an aircraft in flight.
  b. Ground Visibility - The visibility at an aerodrome as reported by an accredited observer.
  c. Runway Visual Range (RVR) - The range over which the pilot of an aircraft on the centerline of a runway can see the runway surface markings or the lights delineating the runway or identifying its centerline.
